Movie Events at the Library

On Tuesday, the Wallingford Cinema Club had its inaugural meeting at the library. We screened the truly fabulous movie, The Third Man. Afterwards, we enjoyed a great discussion of the movie and its context, led by Wallingford Library patron, George Doyle (Thanks George!) We had a splendid time, and I was very pleased indeed with our 'mini cinema' (huge screen and top-notch surround sound) in the Community Room.

The next meeting of the Cinema Club will take place on Tuesday July 1st at 6:30 p.m. We're yet to decide on the film, but I'm tending towards To Have and Have Not.

For those of you who can't wait that long, a special treat: On Tuesday, June 17th at 6:30 p.m., we're going to be screening François Truffaunt’s Masterpiece of French New Wave cinema, Jules et Jim.Here a couple of quotes about the movie: "Truffaunt’s greatest achievement...a celebration both of love and cinema. Moreau gives one of the most memorable performances in screen history. "The Movie Guide
"Age has not withered François Truffaunt’s 1962 masterpiece… Few films capture life’s bittersweet rush and tumble so completely, so profoundly as Jules et Jim. It is the cinematic equivalent of catching lightning in a bottle." The Guardian

Light refreshments will be served. Hope to see you there.
